Don’t forget about the other blog that Karl set up specifically for our discussion of Andy Crouch’s book Culture Making. It can be reached at this address: http://blacknallpcfblog.posterous.com/

It is meant to be a forum for any PCF members who want to post comments about the book or respond to the comments of others. Don’t be shy!

Advent Series

We had a great semester being challenged in our theology of death, dying, and the resurrection.  During this Advent season, we are excited to participate in Godly Play as a way to be challenged to explore scripture in new ways.  If you would like a chance to slow down during this holliday season and reflect on familiar stories in a new and creative way, please join us!

The end of summer and the beginning of school

If you haven’t been able to make it to PCF recently, we have two weeks left of hearing from different members about what is on their hearts right now.  The last few weeks have been encouraging and enriching for those of us who were there, we hope you can make it!

School is starting up soon, and we will have lots of new faces around Blacknall and hopefully at PCF.  Our fall sunday school series will start September 12th, and we will host a welcome lunch for new students and visitors September 19th.    In the weeks until then, if you’re interested we’d love to have you join us for lunch after the 11:00 service.

Picnic at Duke Gardens – take 2!

Because of the rainy weather last week, we weren’t able to have a picnic at Duke Gardens, but a number of us enjoyed lunch at Chubby’s Tacos instead.  Since the weather looks more promising this weekend, we’ve decided to try for the picnic again after the 11:00 service.  Emily and Mark will bring fried chicken.  Everyone else should bring a side or drink to share, or just show up if that’s all you can manage right now, we’d love to see you!

Last week was the first week of our August series of sharing our stories – Sean led a great discussion on how we relate to God during more mundane times in our lives, those times when you aren’t on a spiritual high but also aren’t dealing with major tragedy and life changes.  Come this week to hear from Jen and Emily about how God is working in their lives.

upcoming events

Join us this week after the 11:00 service for a picnic in the Duke Gardens.  Also, Nisrine will be hosting a game night at her house on August 13th – check the listserve for more information.

This month in PCF, we will be focusing on developing deeper community by spending time listening to different PCF members talk about what they are currently thinking about or struggling with related to faith and daily life.  Please join us during the Sunday School hour in the Community Room to have brunch and listen to what these people have to say.  If you would like to participate, just send me an e-mail, we’d love to have you!
